Data Cabling Applications In The Modern Office Environment.

One of the most overlooked aspects of I.T is the data cabling itself. Many I.T problems can be associated with poor cabling. Such as cable lengths being too long, poor terminations. Other aspects of data cabling overlooked are whether external grade or shielded cable is required and also the route that cables are laid. For instance cables running along side power or fluorescent lighting. Although a data point may pass a Cat 5 or Cat 6 test, if there is noise interference from electrical appliances or general electrical feeds too close to the cable, you will not experience the full speed expected. Symptoms of noise are: Loss of speed and intermittent connection.

There are many ways of using data cabling.

To name a couple: WIFI and IP Security Cameras.

There is no doubt the interest and usage of Wireless (WIFI) technology is growing at an incredible rate. Wireless LAN technology is currently the latest buzz topic, many education establishments and businesses have already gone down this route in a bid to offer more flexibility to their working environment.

Wireless does have some great benefits. Installing Wireless means minimal disruption to the working environment. It eliminates the need to pull masses of data cabling through walls and ceilings and can be carried out quickly and efficiently.

Wireless LAN is the perfect solution for temporary classrooms, training rooms and listed buildings and due to the short time required to install a Wireless solution

Security is a must in this day and age, and IP cameras are the way forward. With a wide range available that are remote controlled pan tilt and zoom (PTZ), infa red, motion detection cameras. You can be sure to find the camera that suits your needs, and it all works over a standard network cable (Cat 5 or Cat 6).
