Rhodesia is a small village in the county of Nottinghamshire which is in central England. Indeed even the high street, Tylden Road, was named after the first manager of the Shireoaks Pit.
When it was established, the village of Rhodesia had houses only for the miners and their families, and there were no shops. The purpose built houses were pre-fabricated and finished externally with pebble dash. Everything that people needed was delivered by horse and cart to the door of each house. So provisions like meat, fish, vegetables, milk and ice cream where all bought from a travelling merchant. Once a week the residents of the village of Rhodesia would walk along the towpath of the Chesterfield Canal to Shireoaks where they would shop at the Co-op in the town. Then they would walk home with their shopping.
The Chesterfield Canal runs beside the village of Rhodesia. The canal is known locally as the 'Cukoo Dyke' and was opened in the year 1777 to transport materials by barge. In the eighteenth century barges sailing on a network of canals were used to transport all kinds of materials around England. Indeed the stone that was used to build the Houses of Parliament, more properly known as the Palace of Westminster, would have passed by the village of Rhodesia, when it was being transported by barge from Rotherham in Yorkshire to London.

The arts effect on society is very obvious. You can see how it changes the perspectives of people towards certain things. Take for example about rain. Before poet wrote about rains and described it beautifully in their prose, rains are just water pouring down from the sky to people.
But after poets have expressed their admiration about rains, many people have taken appreciation of the cloud precipitates. Painters draw them on their canvass. The same thing with other things that were taken at face value by the people before the resurgence of artists describing them elaborately either in books as for the writers, in poems as for the poets and in canvass as for painters.

The Price Of Inequality How Today's Divided Society Endangers Our Future
America, "land of the free; home of the brave;" where a little effort and effort will propel you to success, witness the Horatio Alger stories of the late 19th century where a poor boy started out with nothing and ended up with everything.
That this was more mythos than anything else as you still needed a leg up to succeed (witness, the invention of the phone by Alexander Graham Bell. His famed "Watson, come here, I need you!" is part of American lore, but what you may not know is that Bell was a scion of the Grovesnor family, one of the country's leading families and he had powerful backing to "invent" the phone in 1879). In the dime novels of the time, Bell was portrayed as a poor inventor trying to create a new means for the deaf to hear.
That dime novel was quite a page-turner and gave Horatio another venue in which he could succeed, but it wasn't really true. Indeed, as Joseph Stiglitz, author of book "The Price of Inequality: How Today's Divided Society Endangers Our Future", points out more than 40 percent of the country's wealth is held by 1 percent of the country's population. This is setting up a reckless situation where the super-rich, who think nothing of losing a billion or two if the market goes down and gaining the same if the market goes up and who also have the best of health care, best of education and all the other benefits that accrue to great wealth.
The situation is that the 1 percent doesn't realize that it needs the other 99 percent who control the other 60 percent for a very simple reason: the great disparity skews the market as it stifles true capitalism because they have created a situation where the inequality has created an industrialized society that makes a mockery of the law (how many times have you heard the phrase: "He bought his way out of that situation?" If you can afford the best in representation who also knows how to "play" the system, then the chances are good anything that has happened may just disappear).
Right there you have made a mockery of the democratic ideal that "all men are created equal; endowed by... " (as Jefferson put it). The super-rich undermine that ideal just because they control so much money. They also control the means of production and distribution so that the old Horatio Alger stories are nothing but mockeries of life. They aren't real and the super-rich don't really care.
This brings us to Stiglitz's main point which is that in such a society, where democracy and the law may be little more than commodities that can be bought and sold, we have an extreme problem: a society that doesn't care about its poorest and won't fix the problems that are in urgent need for repair. The reason is simple enough, if it is not in the interest of the super-rich, then it's not in society's interest, either. They are, after all, Stiglitz points out, the real arbiters of democracy. Indeed, Stiglitz explains how the regulators become the office boys of the regulated; how the mega-rich work to create conditions where they become richer and when they are caught they expect a bailout from the government, to cover the losses they created.
Stiglitz's solution is a gentle re-regulation of the economy so that the mega-rich contribute again to the economy they control, while the government fixes the underlying problems in the first place. It is a tough balancing act and maybe Stiglitz has it right.

The African Union has started with the development of a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa to promote private-public partnerships to push the pharmaceutical sector.
African and Chinese delegations came together this week at the Roundtable on China-Africa Health Cooperation to discuss how Africa can start producing health care products on the continent. This could help African countries provide their citizens with a stable supply of quality medicines.
Feng Zhao of the African Development Bank said that producing locally could bring many benefits for the continent. "If you look at the pharmaceutical sector now, the size is very small compared to the global overall size. Africa is now less than 1 percent of the global share," noted Zhao. "It has a great potential to grow, the average growth rate is expected to be more than 10 percent."
The sector would also create high quality jobs and bring more technology to the continent.
Africa suffers frequent bouts of many preventable diseases, such as malaria and tuberculosis. But the medicines to treat these diseases are imported from outside the continent. And the cost of those imports weighs heavily on the health care budgets of many African countries.
But producing health care products in Africa comes with many challenges, said Janet Byaruhanga of the African Union Health Office. Our health systems are not adequate enough to address some of the challenges that the continent is facing. That includes human resources for health, that includes the facilities in terms of hospitals, clinics, laboratories and all of those things. Then we also have issues around low funding because the health sector is considered more of a social sector," Byaruhanga stated. "It does not get enough funding, both from the government or even the donors.
Although China has much experience in producing its own pharmaceutical products, the country still faces a lot of negative perception towards their medicines, as the World Health Organization hasn't approved most of them yet.
Dr. Ray Yip, who directs the Chinese branch of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, said it will probably take 20 to 30 years before Africa produces high quality health products, as the industry is in its initial stages.

In any office where theres commission salesperson, theres the potential for a battlefield. However that doesnt need to happen. Strategies can be incorporated into the office environment that fosters exceptional working conditions.
Depending on the number of your staff, theres often the situation of some people forming cliques and office friction occurring. Theres a variety of reasons for this, including gender, age, cultural and personalities. However, involving some bonding activities can help to eliminate this.
Create a Team Spirit
In a team where people are working together competitively, its essential to incorporate activities that foster unity and healthy relationships.
Youve probably heard the saying A team that plays together, stays together. Well thats also the case in creating comradeship. Here are a few tips to do that.
Socialise together Organise a regular time when you can share some fun times together. Try different restaurants, have a group booking at the latest movie, attend sports events togethereven re-create the progressive dinner.
Exercise together Start a sporting team that enters competitions. It may be ten pin bowling, the local half marathon, or plan to walk one of the local walking tracks. Help the Community Find a project or people in your local area that need assistance and get involved in charity work. You can organize a concert and donate the proceeds, sponsor people in activities or paint a house for an elderly resident. Theres loads of alternatives and theres the universal law of what you give comes back to you in greater amountsso it opens you to abundance flowing back into your life.

Heart beat monitors have proven this and its as easy as sharing words of appreciation. This also lets people know that they are valued and reduces any barriers of discord that may crop up in the office.
Its important when giving compliments that they are genuine and from the heart. Its easy to pick up on falseness. These can be given either face to face at the appropriate time, or at a weekly sales meeting, or people draw a name of another member of staff from a hat, to pay a compliment to. A copy of it can also be displayed on a board in the office or on their desk. People re-create the feel good factor whenever they re-read them.
One important message for the receiver is for them to thank the person who gives them a compliment, rather than shrug it off as unimportant. Society once deemed it as derogatory to accept ones good. Thankfully the importance of this gesture has been recognized, especially in the matter of boosting ones esteem or belief in themselves.

I just help people she answered. Unfortunately, people started to disbelieve her. This caused her grief because integrity was important to her. They had also started eliminating her from some office activities, when she came to me for coaching. We analyzed the situation and she learnt about herself and her personality, then her co-workers. The situation improved for awhile, however a year later she was working for another company who were benefiting from her expertise.

People only usually become acquainted with each other when they first start working together. Consequently there is lots about each others past that they are unfamiliar about. I.e. where theyve travelled, sports achievements, hobbies, or past goodwill deeds.
